Splits break your activity down into segments

Runner (incl free), Coach (incl free)

Splits (or laps) break your activity down into segments, so you can see how your pace, heart rate, and effort changed over time, not just the overall average. Splits are available for any activity type that includes distance (running, cycling, swimming, and more) for every athlete and coach, including on the free plan, and for both runners and coaches, on both desktop and mobile.

Splits are also available for existing activity history, so KULG existing users can go back and analyse the workouts they recorded before this feature launched.

Sharing an activity

Every activity opens as its own dedicated page, so it has its own link you can share directly. If you share the link with your coach, they can open it while logged in and viewing your KULG account.

You can also name your activities under activity Details view, making them easier to remember and find later; the activity title from the integration provider is shown by default.

How to view splits?

Open any activity to go to its details page, then switch to the Splits tab. (This tab only appears for activity types that include distance.)

You can choose how the activity is grouped:

  • As recorded — your device's own auto-lap markers (default)

  • 1 km

  • 5 km

  • 10 km

  • Halves — the activity split into two equal parts, which is really useful for understanding how your activity changed and for spotting whether you ran a negative split (a faster second half) at a race.

What you can see per split

On desktop, each split shows:

  • Distance of the split and the best split, indicated with a badge

  • Pace/zone — a horizontal bar coloured by HR zone (using the same colours as elsewhere in KULG), where a faster pace means a longer bar

  • Average HR and maximum HR

  • Total duration (cumulative through that point in the activity)

  • Time (split time)

  • Elevation gain

  • Power

  • Cadence

On mobile, the view is condensed to distance, pace/zone, time, and average HR, so everything stays readable without scrolling sideways.

At the bottom of the table, a totals row summarises the activity: total distance, average pace/zone, average HR, power and cadence; the last lap's distance and total duration; your max HR; and total elevation gain.

Why it's useful

Splits are especially useful for analysing race performance. Comparing pace and HR zone split-by-split makes it easy to see whether you paced evenly, went out too hard, ran a negative split, or had enough left to push in the closing stretches, which is hard to get from a single average.

Splits also lay the groundwork for deeper analysis: KULG Training assistant can now consider your workout in depth, and detailed activity analysis will be added for subscribers soon.
